An Affiliate is, foremost, a partner to the Sponsor. The Affiliate labors on behalf of the Sponsor. He believes that his labor, so given, will be lucrative. He trusts that the Sponsor will compensate him as agreed. The nature of the relationship can be as simple as an Affiliate standing outside the store of the Sponsor, wearing a sandwich-board that says “Come in”, for which he receives a bounty per head. Or, it may be as complex as a franchisee, who has invested and risked of his own capital to offer the products a Sponsor in a market well known to him. In offline business, when there is a dispute over numbers or amounts owed, the Affiliate would have the recourse of a “hard count” or a “formal audit”.
